Museums and Dialogue in Polarizing Times

Around the globe, museums and historic sites are increasingly finding that the tools of dialogue are vital elements to overcoming partisanship and divisiveness. This session will explore the ways in which dialogic interpretation in programs, exhibitions and tours can help communities understand different perspectives, relationships and beliefs. In these exceptional times, when issues from vaccination to school assignments to immigration policy are framed in divisive ways, an understanding of dialogue and its potential is essential as museums work to create a more just world.
