Museum of Czech Literature

The first Museum Night at the Museum of Czech Literature, which opens to the public in late October, presents an exceptional opportunity to enter the renovated Petschek Villa, but especially the opportunity to get acquainted, albeit in brief, with the offer of eleven exhibition halls. The exhibition approaches the presentation of literature from the institution's archives in a non-traditional way and deals with each topic separately: it is not an evolutionary story of Czech, German and Jewish literature, but fundamental topics from literary history that essentially extend into the present. We do not proceed biographically, we do not provide a list of personalities, we acquaint with ideas that are timeless. With the help of new technologies, we explore stories that can be returned to all the time.

The museum tours (the permanent exhibition and the temporary exhibition “The Most Beautiful Czech Books of the Year 2021”) will be guided by Klára Voskovcová, the exhibition curator, Václav Šuba, the exhibition architect, Vladimír Uhlík, the Museum of Czech Literature Collection Presentation Department Head, designer Daniel Pošta, graphic designers Tereza Hejmová and Adéla Svobodová, and others. In the garden, which will be open to all guests and participants of ICOM Prague 2022, you can refresh yourself with draft beer from a local craft brewery and listen to a jazz concert of the Noční optika band.
