What are the main topics for ICOM Prague 2022?
The main theme of the 26th ICOM General Conference Prague 2022 is “The Power of Museums”.
The 4 main subtopics are: Museums and the Civil Society; Museums and resilience; Museum and leadership; Museums and new technologies.

Where is the conference taking place?
The main venue of ICOM Prague 2022 is the Prague Congress Centre, where the main scientific programme will take place from 21 to 24 August 2022.
Off-site meetings of ICOM International Committees will take place on 25 August 2022 in Prague museums.
Forty excursions to the individual regions of the Czech Republic will take place between 26 and 27 August 2022, when participants will be able to visit dozens of museums and other institutions.
What does “hybrid format” mean?
“Hybrid format” means that the main scientific programme of ICOM Prague 2022 will take place both in the traditional (face-to-face) format at the Prague Congress Centre and simultaneously in a virtual environment thanks to the special gCON conference platform.
The hybrid format represents a huge step forward in the organisation of ICOM General Conferences – it promotes the use of modern technology, is in line with sustainable development and offers the opportunity for everyone to participate. Thanks to the virtual library, recordings from the General Conference can also be easily viewed from anywhere and at any time.

How much is the ICOM Prague 2022 registration fee?

What is included in the registration fee?
The registration fee for in-person attendance includes:
- Participation in the scientific programme of the conference in the Prague Congress Centre from 22 to 24 August 2022 and the off-site meetings scientific programme in Prague museum institutions on 25 August 2022.
- Participation in the entertainment programme – the Opening Party at the National Technical Museum and the National Agricultural Museum on 22 August 2022.
- Participation in Museum night in museums in the centre of Prague on 23 August 2022.
- Participation in the Flag Relay Ceremony – handing over the ICOM flag to the organizers of the 27th ICOM General Conference Dubai 2025 at the National Museum.
- Participation in the Scientific programme of off-site meetings in Prague museum institutions on 25 August 2022.
- Participation in excursions on 26 August 2022.
- Refreshments during the entire General Conference and a Prague public transport ticket.
- Access to the ICOM Prague 2022 digital library after the conference.
The registration fee for remote attendance includes:
- Participation in most parts of the scientific programme in the Prague Congress Centre from 22 to 24 August 2022.
- Access to online excursions.
- Access to the ICOM Prague 2022 digital library after the conference.

Is accommodation included in the registration fee?
No. Participants pay for their accommodation in Prague separately and choose their hotel in the registration process. We have prepared a wide range of options in different price categories.
What is the conference language of ICOM Prague 2022?
The official language of ICOM Prague 2022 is English.
The main ICOM Prague 2022 scientific programme in the main congress hall will be simultaneously interpreted into four languages – Czech, English, Spanish, and French.
What are the conditions for presenting at ICOM Prague 2022?
Any registered participant can present their paper both at the Prague Congress Centre and online via gCON. You can submit your proposal by uploading your abstract using our online form. Once your abstract is approved by the International Committees, you will be included in the ICOM Prague 2022 programme.
The Call for Papers will be open until 31 March 2022.
Another possibility to participate in the scientific programme is through Posters. You can request your Poster to be included in the same way as a paper using our online form.
The Call for Posters will be open until 19 June 2022.
What are ICOM International Committees?
The International Committees bring together museum professionals from around the world and they constitute core think tanks on global museum and heritage matters in specialised topics and fields. For more information, visit the Committees’ directory.
How can I become a member of ICOM and its International Committees?
There is nothing easier. Just contact your country’s ICOM National Committee or the ICOM Secretariat.
Why should I become a member of ICOM?
There are many reasons! First of all, you will get access to the largest museum organisation in the world and connect with museum professionals from all over the world. You will also get access to a wealth of exhibitions, displays and other museum projects for free in ICOM member institutions!
What is there to do in Prague if I arrive on 20 August 2022?
We have prepared a rich pre-conference programme for 20 and 21 August that includes guided tours of Prague, traditional Czech cuisine cooking courses and more.

In addition to the accompanying programme, there will be separate meetings of the National Committees, separate meetings of the International Committees, the Advisory Council, and other items on the scientific programme on 20 and 21 August.
On 22 August at 9.00 a.m., a part of the scientific programme will begin at the Prague Congress Centre.
Will there be any conference excursions?
Yes! We have prepared a total of 40 conference excursions in four categories – Regions, Museum train to Brno, UNESCO and Multi-day Excursions.

I am not travelling to the conference alone, but with an accompanying person. Can they participate in the same parts of the programme as me?
You will choose the entertainment programme for your accompanying person during registration and you can choose the same options for both.
Is Wi-Fi available in the Prague Congress Centre?
Yes!
How will the Covid-19 pandemic affect ICOM Prague 2022?
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, ICOM Prague 2022 will be held in a hybrid format, i.e. partly via a virtual platform.
Apart from compliance with public health and safety measures, ICOM Prague 2022 will not be under any risk because:
- The organisers will provide sanitising products
- The organisers will ensure that all anti-epidemic measures are observed
- All participants will behave responsibly and observe the rules
Do I need a visa to enter the Czech Republic?
The Czech Republic is a member state of the European Union. All participants from outside the European Union should familiarise themselves with the official requirements for entering the EU.

Are there any guidelines for speakers?
Yes! As ICOM Prague 2022 will be a hybrid event, it is important to familiarize yourself with the instructions for speakers. All the instructions for both on-site and remote speakers, you can find here.
