The Military History Institute Prague is museum, scientific research and library facility of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic. Its collections include items relating to Czech and Czechoslovak military science and armed forces. The institute’s largest collection consists of weapons and armour. Visitors can also enjoy a wide variety of uniforms and equipment on display. The Military History Institute administers other related sites such as the Kbely Aviation Museum in Prague and the Military Technical Museum Lešany. It also manages a unique collection of art featuring paintings by soldiers who fought on the frontlines of the First World War in Russia, France and Italy. Among the most outstanding works in this collection are by František Kupka and Emil Filla.
